Memories and Imagined Futures: Create a mixed media collage about an event that happened in your life or something that you imagine happening in the future. Use at least three transfer images. These can be images that you create yourself using photographic prints, or found images from our immense stack of available media. Think about the meaning of transparency and how you layer images, both in a technical sense and in terms of what it means. Artist: Tomashi Jackson
A Thoughtful Tag: Create a name tag for your art drawer in the classroom. Use tape and images along with paper and other media to create a design that will say not only who owns the work in the drawer, but also more about who you are. Use found fonts to write the name, and add images or other found text to make a small poetic portrait of you. Artist: Banksy
Find or make two images that are very different in tone, style, or feeling. Combine them using ink transfer to layer one over the other, juxtaposing two very different images to in order to create meaning. Don’t think too much about it before you combine the images, more than to identify two things that are strikingly different. Once the piece is made however, be prepared to discuss the meanings that your composition might be uncovering and address them. Artists: Paco Pomet, Elliott Erwitt
